I
am Tom Wright and
this is my personal weather page. I have worked as the Chief Meteorologist at Reagan Test Site in the Pacific, an Incident Meteorologist for the NWS, and a mission meteorologist for department of defense operations. I now live in Montana.
This
satellite photo (left) of Hurricane Katrina, taken on the evening
of August 28, 2005, the day before she unleashed her fury on the
Gulf Coast, is a perfect example of why I got into the weather business.
Most people associate hurricanes with destruction, suffering and
misery; and rightly so. But weather weenies, like me, think differently.
We look more at the beauty, mystery and power of God's most destructive
meteorological forces - be they tornadoes, blizzards or hurricanes.

stunning animated GIF of Hurricane Katrina approaching the Gulf
Coast.
I
got into this business because of my fascination with the weather.
But beyond that, it has taken me to all corners of the U.S. and
now overseas. My job as an Incident Meteorologist (predicting weather
for wildfires - see that page for details)
brought the most variety, but each job has contributed something
different to my life and career.
This
page contains all of my favorite tools and links that I use every
day at work as well as some cool weather photos and articles.
